The planning and preparation that goes into a race day outfit is often just as fun as the race day itself.

There are so many things to organize; the dress, the millinery, accessories, shoes, nails, tan, hair, makeup… it could be a full time job (I wish)!

I recently attended the Magic Millions Fashions on the Field at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

To try something new, I thought it would be fun to make my very first video blog about the story behind my outfit and I’m super excited to share it with you!

Hopefully it gives you an idea of all the steps and preparations that go in to getting race day ready.

I was a little nervous about getting in front of the camera but thanks to a cheeky mid-afternoon cocktail and my talented film crew (i.e. my brother with an iPhone) it’s ready for your viewing pleasure.

In this video I cover:

  • My dress design and alterations (0:20)
  • Beading and embellishments (1:03)
  • My hat and the modifications I made to tie in with my dress (1:49)
  • My blue bag that was once orange (2:40)
  • Nails and hair – the finishing touches (3:15)
  • Some beautiful shots from the day (3:33)
  • Footage of the FOTF competition (3:51)

If you like this video, share it on Facebook with your friends. I look forward to making more videos for you in the future.

If you’d like to see how I made some of my other outfits including my white leather lace dress that won the Tattersall’s FOTF competition, just enter your email below and I’ll send you my pdf guide that shows the whole process.
