Project Description

A pattern with me is that I seem to always be rushing around trying to find outfits for events.
I had a Great Gatsby themed function to go to in two days time. I did not want to hire anything and had a black tulle skirt at home.
I had previously sewn a mesh base top which I had intended to bead but never got around to doing so- I thought this was a great opportunity to use it.
I wanted to use materials I already had at home to save money. I had some black lace, black, gold and crystal beads, mesh and faux flowers.
Being Gatsby themed I wanted to make it look glamorous and the tulle skirt was a perfect match to the sheer bustier.
I cut the lace fabric I had into individual shapes and sewed them onto the top with a boarder of black mesh underneath. I sewed on gold and crystal beads between the lace and mesh.
I wanted to use a bit of colour on my top and found some old fabric flowers that I deconstructed and sewed on individual petals and beading inside them.
I had just enough time to finish the front of the top and make a feather head piece to match.
