Project Description

I made this bespoke gown in 2013 at TAFE.
I was completing a subject on draping and was to drape fabric in any way of my choice.
I decided to make a whole garment and started with a bra I purchased from Myer. I bought 6 meters of nude tulle from Spotlight.
To create this dress I placed the bra on a mannequin and started hand draping and pinning along the tucks. Once I had finished the draping of the bra I took it off the mannequin and sewed along the seam lines to secure it in place.
For the skirt I gathered 4 meters of tulle and pinned it to the waist band of the bra and sewed it on.
This dress took me a week to complete being my first time draping.
I was fortunate enough to lend it to IMATS Sydney for their Makeup Convention last year and my good friend Janaka Rodrigue and I did an underwater shoot featuring my dress.
