Fashions on the Field Calendar

Fashions on the Field events tend to spring up on me unexpectedly. I’ll often find out about one less than a week before the event, sending me into a whirl of panic.

If you want to produce a winning outfit, you will want to give yourself a few weeks to prepare your outfit, especially if you are having your dress or hat custom made.

To help you plan out your race event schedule, I have listed all major Fashions on the Field events in the calendar below. The dates may change, some FOTF may be cancelled and some events are yet to be announced, so please check the exact date with your local racecourse.

** Note: Most of the dates in the calendar below are from 2019 (pre-COVID). They give an idea of roughly when events occur throughout the year, check with your local race club for exact dates as some events may have been cancelled or postponed. **

Some Advice for the FOTF Beginner

If you are just starting out in Fashions on the Field, I suggest you identify two events from the list above that are happening in your local area and pencil the dates into your calendar.

For your first event, I would plan on attending the race day without entering FOTF just to observe and get comfortable with the atmosphere and setting.

You’ll learn a lot about track etiquette, how other entrants dress, how they carry themselves on stage, what the judges talk about as well as latest trends.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy the experience and be excited to give it a go and enter FOTF at your second race event of the year.

The Events that I Attend

I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland so I usually attend events at the Gold Coast Turf Club and Doomben Racecourse.

I also fly down to Melbourne every year for the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington Racecourse. If you’ve never attended, I would definitely try and make it at some point as the atmosphere is amazing and the fashions will blow you away.
